Remote Consultations

While we love meeting face-to-face, sometimes it is easier and more efficient to meet virtually. We might not be in the same room, but you can rest assured that you will always receive the highest levels of service, however we meet.

Fairstone’s virtual meeting solution offers a safe and secure way to meet, share and collaborate with your adviser, using Microsoft Teams.

We chose to host our meetings on Teams following extensive due diligence on the available platforms and our decision was based on its market leading security offering as well as its exemplary ease of use.

How to join

Meetings can be accessed via the Teams app (both computer and mobile device) or via your chosen web browser (computer only). If choosing to use the Teams app you will need to download it ahead of the meeting, but rest assured this is free and easy to do.

Ahead of the consultation you will receive a link via email, clicking on this will take you to the meeting lobby where you will wait until your adviser starts the meeting. Once you have joined, you will have the option to customise your video and sound preferences including blurring your background or muting your microphone.

If your computer does not have video or microphone capabilities, let your adviser know and they will call you on the phone during the session. The priority is that you can hear your adviser and see their presentation on screen.

The meeting itself will be very similar to a face-to-face consultation. It is an opportunity for you to get to know your adviser and for them to gain a thorough understanding of your financial objectives.

Electronic signatures

Should we require you to sign any documentation we will offer to use our secure e-sign solution, Adobe Sign. Your adviser will talk you through how to use it but please see our user guide below.

Verify and authenticate ID documentation

As part of our client journey, we will need to verify your Identity and authenticate your ID documentation. For this we use the app-based solution, ProID provided by GBG and Credas.

Preparing for your meeting

Ahead of your meeting there is nothing to prepare as such but you may want to join the call early to make sure you can connect or do a test run ahead of time to make sure you’re comfortable with the process. Things to think about:

Do you have somewhere quiet and comfortable to sit where you can talk openly about your personal finances?

The meeting could take up to an hour so you may need access to Wifi and charging points

Headphones are not necessary but if you have some, it could give you added privacy

We also recommend having a notepad and pen to hand, however, we will send a full summary of our discussions following the meeting.

We hope that you feel confident about navigating your way through a remote meeting with ease. If you have any questions about your up-coming consultation, please get in touch with our client services team on 0191 519 6028 or email info@fairstone.co.uk.
